SAP Maintenance Planner

The SAP Maintenance Planner is an important planning tool for the lifecycle management of the SAP system landscape.

What is the SAP Maintenance Planner?

The SAP Maintenance Planner is a central planning tool for optimally scheduling installation tasks, system adjustments, updates or upgrades within the SAP system landscape. The Maintenance Planner maps all relevant functions in one tool and is therefore considered the successor to the Maintenance Optimizer, Landscape Planner and System Editor. Among other things, dependencies can be analysed and evaluated, changes implemented and archives downloaded. The application is part of the cloud-based SAP Solution Manager. In order to use the Maintenance Planner, it is necessary that all managed systems are registered in the central System Landscape Directory.

Functions of the SAP Maintenance Planner

In order to minimise the impact on operations, detailed planning and scheduling of complex maintenance tasks is essential. The Maintenance Planner therefore provides a whole range of essential workflows for lifecycle management. By providing all the necessary functions in one application, the maintenance process is simplified.

  • Overview of all systems and system groups used
  • Planning new installations, updates and upgrades
  • Integration scenarios with the help of the Cloud Integration Automation Service (CIAS)
  • Grouping of systems and planning of overarching maintenance tasks
  • Analysis of dependencies and effects of system changes
  • Conversion to SAP S/4 HANA
  • Visualisation of hybrid system landscapes
  • Status monitoring of the products used

Especially the visualisation functions added in 2020 should also facilitate the exchange between IT and specialist departments.
